Free Creative Writing Course

Great opportunity for unpublished Chinese-heritage writers

We’re delighted to announce that Bi’an has been offered a free place for the Manchester Writing School Creative Writing Summer School on June 21st and 22nd 2019.

This two-day intensive course is designed to give participants a taste of life in the Manchester Writing School, introducing them to tutors and current students, and offering opportunities to develop and pitch their own writing in a lively and supportive environment. The programme will include a carousel of masterclass workshops, seminars and readings, delivered by practising writers and critics, with input from special guests. Attendees will be able to choose from a range of specialist sessions. These may include fiction, poetry, writing for children & young adults, place writing, script writing, and creative non-fiction.

Established in 1998 within the Department of English at Manchester Metropolitan University, the Manchester Writing School is one of the largest creative writing departments in the country and regarded as one of the most successful.  The School hosts a range of degree programmes and short courses, public events and competitions and is headed by former Poet Laureate, Carol Ann Duffy.

This opportunity is open to all Chinese heritage writers, aged over 18, living in the UK and unpublished in the UK. It covers the £250 fee to attend the course but does not include travel, accommodation or subsistence costs.
